Silent Rave in Union Square, Sunday August 15, 2008!

So here's the deal: meet at 5:25pm this Sunday, press play and get down in Union Square (E.14th and Broadway) while rocking out to chosen playlist on your mp3 player. Watch the kids piling out of Union Square station from the Williamsburg L-train to join this silent orgy of musical worship. Metromix has some information and some wicked photos from the event back in April. This reminds me of the silent rave event at the Vegoose festival in Vegas back in October last year, where Koss handed out wireless headphones so everyone could get down to a DJ broadcasting (silently) over the audio system.

New York Food and Wine Festival - October 9-12, 2008

Ok so plenty of the events are sold out or pretty pricey. But this event does seem to bring together some pretty serious food stars from New York and around the world for some cool events like "Chelsea Market After Dark with Bobby Flay".

McCarren Park Pool Parties in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

If you haven't been to, heard of or smelt one of these parties yet, you must have been living under a rock. Most are free, some are not so free, but all have great bands and are a load of fun. As well as music and beer, there is a Slip 'N Slide and dodgeball! Find the schedule here and the map directions here (look on the aerial view). The park is a short walk from the Bedford L. Pick up some drinks (massive G&Ts) in "easy-to-drink-in-public" styrofoam cups on the way from Turkey's Nest!

Murakami Exhibition at the Brooklyn Art Museum

Checked out the Takashi Murakami Exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum yesterday for $10. Picked up a set of 10 awesome postcards for $17 also. Definitely worth seeing, even though to some art snobs he is a "sell out".
